Well folks, we made it through Thursday and almost another week! I’m so looking forward to the weekend and SLEEP. Well, I’m looking forward to sleep on Sunday as Saturday I have a 5k and we are going to chop down our Christmas tree in Fredericksburg. Guess I better pull the ol’ flannel out of the closet for that outing. LOL
I had a hard time waking up this morning (shocker I know) and promised myself once again I’d be in bed early to start catching up on sleep. Well, here it is 8:05 p.m. so let’s see how this goes!
I dropped my laptop on my left foot last night and it’s pretty sore. The corner of the laptop hit the very top of my foot and it’s starting to bruise. The life of a blogger, right?! Yeaaahhhhh….
Today was a little bit slower at work which was nice, but I had a lot to do so the day went by very fast! It was pretty funny getting messages from our new Red China friends this morning. We were all laughing about how only a bunch of runners drinking beer sign up for a half marathon on a whim and call it something ridiculous like RED CHINA! BUAHA. Lynn and I are both very excited for that trip and to get to know more about our new friends leading up to dooms day. 🙂
I got to see some of the pictures from the RNR half on Sunday and as always, I look awful. HA! However, that race was a turning point for me as it gave me a base and knowledge about where I am at and how hard I’ll have to work to get down to that 1:40 that I want by this time next year… or week (God, is that possible?!).
The official results were finally in, & if you recall from the post below, the unoffical results were right at 2:00;00 and I was wishing I could’ve had a 1:59:59 to say under 2 hours- https://roadrunnerchick.com/2018/12/02/half-marathon-complete-friends-signed-up-for-more-recovery-goals/
Well, according to the official results today I DID come in at 1:59:59 so that one second turned around my whole day.
There was also that time I finished faster than Desi Linden….
Okay, she was just running to hang out with all the non-superhuman runners along the course, but I can now always say I beat her in a race! LOL! And just because I haven’t shown this picture enough….
I snacked on Clif Bars in between meals today and I found this amazing gum….
Before this blog I had just started recording my running stats, paces, mileage etc in this training journal. I always feel good putting it on paper so I can see progress, compare workouts, etc… I haven’t done it since this blog, but I love this SO much more!
I got home from work tonight and Lynn told me I had a package on the bar addressed to me. I was SO excited to see that it was from GU Energy Labs. I had won a contest they held last week asking people to suggest fun GUssets for their gels. Mine was chosen as the winner (Success takes GUts) and I also had an honorable mention (Sweat + Grit = GU).
I opened the package like a 7 year old would on Christmas and had to touch every GU and say out loud what each flavor was, etc… Then I had to take 37 pictures. Here are a few. It was so kind of GU to send me the product and to hand write the note… not to mention spelling my name right. I mean, that’s pretty awesome 🙂 !!!!
After Lynn pulled the box of GU out of my hands, i made myself a delicious salad. I am loving pomegranate seeds on my salads right now! YUM!
The other high of my day was finally deciding I wasn’t crazy enough with my running schedule over the next few months. In the next 10 weeks;
– 4 half marathons
– 1 Full marathon
-2 competitive 5ks
I decided I wanted one final hurrah at the end of that before summer hits and to really challenge myself in many ways mentally and physically.
So, I did what any sane person would do and signed up for my first 50 MILER on May 4th. I am SO excited and it’s close to Dallas so it will be a fun adventure in so many ways. Lynn is such a trooper for putting up with my crazy, but I know she will be taking some amazing photos and growing her portfolio along the way.
After the race it will be a few 5ks maybe until fall, but wedding planning will be full blown. We are going to start getting down to business over Christmas break and will get a lot of balls rolling. I’m excited to marry my best friend and biggest cheerleader. I’m so very lucky in so many ways!
2019 is going to be the best year of my life! Lucky to have my person right by my side along the 2019 journey and marrying her at the end of it will be the best day of my life!
See you at the start line!
